NewsDEVEX 2008 production and development conference names headline speakerGrowing interest in the 5th annual production and development conference and exhibition in Aberdeen has led to an extended programme for 2008. And the organisers have named Arthur Millholland, President and CEO, Oilexco Incorporated, as the keynote speaker who will open the conference. DEVEX 2008 is organised by , the Society of Petroleum Engineers Aberdeen Section (SPE), Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB) and Aberdeen Formation Evaluation Society (AFES) with support from the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). The DEVEX 2008 conference will explore the theme ‘from development to production’, and offers three parallel sessions to choose from over two days. It aims to attract 500 delegates to Aberdeen. Chairman of the DEVEX 2008 technical committee, Jeb Tyrie of Focus Energy, said “The success of last year’s event has created terrific interest in DEVEX 2008. The programme is of an extremely high quality, with many case studies from operators as well as service companies. With the addition of a number of presentations on new techniques, DEVEX 2008 will be an unsurpassed learning experience, of value to everyone engaged in the oil and gas industry from reservoir to the wellhead and beyond.” Highlights of the conference programme include:
Innovations at DEVEX 2008 will include a pre-conference short course which will provide an introduction to streamline simulation and a Poster Plaza within the exhibition. An exhibition of products and services relevant to the DEVEX audience will accompany the conference. Many companies - from the large, such as Schlumberger, to the smaller specialist provider such as HRH Geological Services - have already signed up to exhibit and there are still further opportunities for potential exhibitors and sponsors. The two-day event concludes with an optional field trip exploring the effect of natural features on the landscape of Aberdeen.
