Devex Fieldtrip & Dinner

Stonehaven – Field Trip & Dinner ends the conference on Wednesday evening. Pete Hill, a geophysicist with ConocoPhillips, will lead a trip South of the Highland boundary fault into the northern part of the Midland Valley to view the conglomerates and sandstones of the Lower Old Red Sandstone (ORS) sections exposed at Stonehaven and Dunnotar. The field trip will conclude with dinner at the excellent Tollbooth Restaurant on the harbour side.

Special Core Analysis Data      

Special core analysis (SCAL) is often of critical importance in reservoir appraisal and development.  However, the data are usually sparse and often poorly understood. This short course aims to introduce some key issues in the use and abuse of these measurements. Topics include: sources of error in the acquisition, techniques in data analysis (with associated benefits and dangers) and new tools in data synthesis to maximise integrity and value.

Cost: Members of SPE/PESGB/AFES/EI - £200 plus VAT (£230)

Non-members - £250 plus VAT (£287.50)

James G McCallum has over 25 years experience in well engineering, well construction management and business management, including 12 years UK and international operator experience. A 'serial entrepreneur' with a genuine passion for life, James was the founder and ultimately president of wells project management company, GMIS (now ADTI), with a turnover in excess of $125 million. He became CEO and co-founder of Senergy in 2005.


He will deliver a highly personal account which will illustrate why we should not be deterred by the cyclicity of our industry, and how recession presents windows of opportunity as well as challenges.
