A North to South story was told at the core workshop with displays from Schiehallion’s turbiditic channels, the shoreface sediments of Fulmar and the tight-matrix, fractured gas sands of Hoton in the Southern Basin. More than thirty delegates were treated to a guided tour from the experts at Shell and BP whose irrepressible energy and enthusiasm was both entertaining and educational. Core viewings are always interesting to both first-timers and seasoned geologists alike and this event was no exception. The variety of the core, the differences between the displays and the stories they told will have offered something for everyone who came along.
DEVEX would like to thank presenters Tom McKie, Chris Davies (both of Shell), Jamie Collins, Stephan Bergbauer, Jesus Maguregui (all BP), and Keith Ross and Alan Scott (Iron Mountain) for their help at the Core Workshop.
This field trip ends the conference on the Thursday evening. Places are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. A coach will be available to take delegates from the AECC to the Crawton Lavas and back. Please note due to insurance requirements the Crawton Lavas Field Trip is only open to PESGB members.
